The treasure code

 

This activity is all about codes and how to decipher them. We learnt about four different codes and had some activity in this slide. I couldn't make a screencastify today because my brother was being very loud and you wouldn't be able to hear me speak but if you want to learn some of these codes check out the last slide.

This activity here is about creating your own chorus for a song. I couldn't record my song lyrics since my house is to noisy and you couldn't hear me so I thought I would just write them in my blog post. My lyrics are about how being a dancer can be very painful but no matter what you just have to push through and keep dancing. Enjoy

Summer learning journey

 Today we have been looking at an art coloring book that we can color online. There are lots of different images you can color and each one is unique. This is for the summer learning journey which a lot of us will be participating in. This here is the picture I chose to color and the original one is under it.

The media

For Maniakalani this week and last week we have been creating a poster about the different types of media. The three types of media we described what print media, broadcasting media and social media. here is what we came up with. 

Surf to turf

 

On the 28 of October we participated in this thing called surf to turf. The surf to turf is were we ran from the Waimakariri to our school which is 5.1k. After we ran we had to do a bunch of fitness challenges like rolling a tire around cones and the plank challenge. We all had to run in buddies to make sure that nobody got lost. We have been training for the surf to turf for weeks now spending at least an extra hour at school.

After we were done the surf to turf we all got ice blocks to have and stayed after school to have some food. Everyone who participated in the surf to turf got a certificate and a McDonalds voucher. I think that the surf to turf is a great way to challenge your self and go father then you have ever gone before. Would you give it a try? 

The great thing about the surf to turf is you don't have to be really fit to complete it because you can walk it. I encourage you to give it a try because you might find it fun.

art expedition

Our school has been making art to put up in the hall. Each class has made something different. We each made one piece of art that was our choice and a piece that everybody did the same. Our class made an eye with our future in it.

 In my eye I see myself as a principle dancer which is the highest rank of professional dancer. I´m on the stage dancing in front of an huge audience. I loved doing this art because it was very fun to imagine myself in the future. Our eyes look amazing now with all of the shading and detail. You should gives this a try to it a lot of fun.

 The one night a year kids dream about. The day was almost here. It was Xmas eve when everyone was asleep except little Ming-ming. Ming-ming was laying outside in the cold breeze looking at the stars. Ming ming was thinking about how his slaves were not being useful. All they did was feed him and they like to eat people but like that's boring. Ming Ming was just not happy with his slaves because they had not started to concur the world yet. He was so disappointed that he went out in search of a new slave that would actually be helpful. Tho ming-ming forgot that it was Xmas eve so the hunt would have to wait. 

Ming ming woke up on Xmas day to open up his presents. He opened up his presents to find paint. He wasn't exactly sure what to use the paint for but I'm sure he'll find a way. As Ming-ming wandered around he Thought of what the meaning of Xmas really was. He thought it wasn't just about presents or food it was about being with family and friends. Then Ming-ming realized he had neither of those.  

One day Georgia was out about at night looking for just somebody anyone who would talk to her. Then they locked eyes and saw each other.

The Unseen

The unseen is an unseen creature as you can tell by its name. It lives in the ocean but that is all that is known, or so we thought. A young diver had gone missing in search of the unseen but never returned. Of course, everybody assumed he was dead as he had not returned for so long, until. A couple of men were out fishing one day in a lake when they spotted something rather odd. It looked like a boat smelled like a boat but didn't sound like one. Then they thought, of course, it's the Unseen, they raced to there cameras to snap a pic but by the time they turned around, it was gone. As they had closer look they saw a piece of diving equipment that had floated up from the bottom.

These two men went racing to tell everybody that they had seen diving equipment and the Unseen, but nobody believed them. I mean people in this town will do anything for money and of course the great Unseen was worth a lot. The two men were broken because they had found something that could be life-changing for this town.

 As they walked along the streets and felt the breeze on there faces it hit them, literally a newspaper hit them in the face. As they opened it they saw their story and they were ecstatic, so happy that their story was being told to the world. Yet as they keeper reading the noticed their story wasn't being told by them it was being told by some guy who had said this was his story that he had seen it and that this was revolutionary.

  

 

Holidays

Since last week was the holidays our class is making blog posts about the last two weeks. In the last two weeks, I definitely had some fun. I went to stay and a friend's house and we went to the palms mall, since it was really close to her place. We walked around the shops for a bit then got some sushi. We had to ride the bus back but we were at the wrong stop. As the buses came round one of the bus drivers very kindly said he would give us a ride to the next stop. We had to wait a while until it finally came. 

For the rest of the day, we didn't do very much but we watched some movies. The next day we went around Brighton went to subway and other stores. There were mainly food shops and stores with things like crystals. We decided to go home and pat all of her animals. Why she has a dog and five cats I don't know. I sadly had to go home and then deliver papers.  

I had a lot of fun with my friend and hope to hang out with them again.

pobble 365 short story

For writing, we got to write a story from pobble. Pobble is a site was there is a bunch of images that you can pick from to write about. Here is my story I hope you like it.

 Long ago during the war, a girl and her family went off search for shelter and food but did not return. Their bodies were never found, nothing was heard for years until little Jimmy came 19 years later to this town on a school trip. He had gotten lost and was searching for his friends. Jimmy was wandering when he saw this trail of particles that he was drawn to immediately. These particles were green and yellow and glittery, so he followed them. They lead him to a place called the grotto. The grotto consisted of creatures of all sorts, or so he was told. This was an old worn down dump really.

He wanders around the grotto until he saw something he wished he hadn't. Jimmy was horrified by what he saw, four bodies of the family that had disappeared. Though something was off about them, they looked fake, plastic even. In the distance, the family was hiding out in some bushes not knowing there was somebody else there.

Jimmy decided to take a look to see if there were any signs of life. He found a doorway leading to a house. Inside there was nothing but a suitcase, just a suitcase. Inside were clothes ordinary clothes drenched in blood, red, thick, blood. Jimmy ran as fast as he could to find help but when people went looking there were just rags in there. Jimmy was confident the clothes were in the but nobody believed him. So he went back by himself to take a look. Through the doorway opening the suitcase was not clothes but bodyparts, real body parts bone and all. This time Jimmy did not stick around the see whatever had does this. He took off and was never heard from again.

Star art

   Room 23 has been making star art. Here is mine. In the background, we had to write reasons why we are a star. In the end, we write I am a star because then our name. I enjoyed making these stars because we could make them however we wanted. Try this it is really easy and fun to do.

Reading week 10

 This is my DLO for this week. We had to recreate what we think the entrance of the hospital would look like. I did a pig running wild in the background cause one is bound to escape at some point. There are some showers in there since they have to take a shower to see the pigs. I hope you enjoy this image, I made it on google draw.

We have been learning about haikus. We have made some for everybody to see. We did these in syllables 5 7 5. Here is mine.

Kereru DLO

For our DLO we had to write down facts/information that we think is most important. This is what I have learned from the first two chapters.

Cam is a boy who has heart problems. He loves hanging out with Marlon and his other friends but wishes he could do what they could do. You see his heart makes it so he can’t do most things like swimming or holding his breath. He wishes he could have fun without worrying his heart will give way. Cam’s life is very difficult, his parents argue and he can’t help but think it’s his fault. Every Tuesday he says he is going to Marlin’s house when he is actually going to the pool. He doesn’t tell his parents because he knows they will freak out. But that dream will soon come to an end as his heart is getting worse.

Tolafa This week we have a bunch of Samoan activities to do. I chose to learn about how to greet people in Samoan, and put them in a slide show. The slideshow shows the basic ways on how to greet people. I have made six slides for you to watch about how to greet people, hope you enjoy.

Back to school

This week we have gone back to school. It has been different than how it used to be. We cant be to close to each other and we have our class bubbles. We still play games together with other classes but nothing like tag or games with contact.  All of our desks are separated in single file along the class.


It felt weird going back to school after the long break. As soon as we got back we started cross country training and everyone is tired. Today some people got timed for how fast the ran, the fasted time was round about 6 minutes and 36 seconds twice around the field. We have been stretching before we run so we don't get sore and a little bit after.


So far we have been doing a lot of stuff on our site that we used during quarantine. On the site there is maori, reading, writing , spelling and more.  School had been very different but hopefully it will be back to normal soon.

Activity 2 for Maori was to think of ways to remember these feelings do you have any ideas on how to remember them? I remember ngenge because it sounds like something I would say when i'm very tired. I am also making some flash cards to help me remember these feelings.

Writting

For writing one of the activities was to write facts and learn about an animal of your choice, so that's what I did for my activity.

Deers are known for being very gentle and calm animals. They are usually seen grazing through the tall grass or leaping through forests.

What they eat:

 They eat things like grass and plants because they are herbivores.

What are some other names for dears:

A male deers is also known as a buck, big bucks can also be called stags. Bucks are the only deer that grow antlers which they shed in the winter then grow back in the spring. Female deers are called Fawns; they are born with white spotted fur which helps them camouflage in the grass. 

Were they live:

Deer live all over both north and south America, they love tall forests and prairie grass. The predators for deer include Bobcats, coyotes and mountain lions.

Swimming and running:

 Deers are actually really good swimmers and amazing at running when it comes to getting away from threats. Deers can even jump up to 30 feet.

Level 2

I am very excited to be going back to school on Monday. I am glad that I am going to see everybody who is coming back. I am glad that things are getting back to normal. My brother is excited to go back to school as well. He is excited that we can now get takeaways and that he will be able to go to the library.

Online ballet

I have been having a few online ballet classes this week. I have been doing them in my hallway so that I don't take up much room. We shut the doors in the house while I have my computer sitting on a stole next to the door. We usually do mostly bar and some of the character dance. This meet usually goes for about half an hour to an hour. After we have finished we stretch and continue on with our days.

Mothers day

For mothers day I made my mum a watercolor painting. thought it didn't go as planned when I made it I tried to cover up a piece by painting over it with white but it made it smudge. My mum didn't mind she thought it made it look better. We put it in a frame so that the paper wouldn't fold up and she loved it.

reading

For reading one of my activities was to make a conversation between to characters from any book of your choice so here it is.



Harry Potter was wandering around the common room late at night. It was after his quidditch match and he was feeling down. He was thinking of his parents after hearing them from the dementors. He was mainly thinking of his dad, why hadn’t he heard him, and was he so frowned upon. Suddenly he heard serious black appear from the fire, with something in his hand. It was a picture book from his parents and he passed it to harry then disappeared. Serious blacks conversation with harry altho short was intriguing. The picture book was filled with pictures of harry and his parents from when he was little. All the pictures that harry could have ever wanted were there in front of them. There was even a note from his mum, to my dear son harry take this book and remember we are always with you- Lilly and James Potter. Harry’s eyes now filled with tears wished that he would be able to hear his parent’s voice once more but time will only tell if that is possible.

Tech origami book mark

  For tech one of my activities was to make something out of origami so I decided to make a bookmark. First, take a square piece of paper, fold into a triangle, fold the middle of the triangle up into a small triangle, fold down the edges, fold the edges into the small triangle. There you go you have your bookmark.

Pizza

A few days ago me and my mum made homemade pizza. for the pizza base, we used half a bag of self-raising flour, a cup of water, and a pinch of salt. We needed it and added more or less flour and water until it was right. Then we rolled it out with a glass until it fit the pan. We didn't have any tomato paste so we used tomato sauce. We added all our toppings and then put it in the oven for about 20 mins and 200 degrees.

Art

     This is the art that I shared for my sharing time. I am not exactly sure how this idea came to mind but it just did.  It's a black and white girl who is really creative but you can only see that on the inside not the outside. I added some lines with a black marker for some extra detail.

Anzac day

For Anzac day I decided to draw a poppy on the concrete so that when everybody walked past they would see it. My mum wanted me to do it too because the neighbors had a paper poppy on their fence and my mum wanted to one-up them. Most of my poppy is gone but some of it still remains. I also did a drawing of some poppies in a field with crosses but the picture won't upload. I hope you all had a good Anzac day.

Animals

The animals I have had in the past were a beagle named Bella and a cat named Tom. Bella lived a very happy life until she sadly left this world. The same thing happened with Tom only with a little thing happened called on coming traffic.Tom was black and white and we kept the name hes was given from the SPCA. Bella was white brown and orange and was afraid of tom but she got her revenge on him by eating out of his bowl.

Scones

      Today me and my mum made scones. We used a mixture that was p remade we added water and then cooked them. If we didn't have scone mix we would have made with a recipe we found online. The mixture we used made seven in total and rose very high.

Face mask

Today we had our face mask competition. I made mine out of paper and rubber bands. While others made them out of things like shirts and fabric. I took a peace of paper cut it up into a rectangle. Then drew some characters and glued them on. Finally I took some tape and rubber bands for the straps.

Ballet

This week I have been doing some ballet at home. We have had a couple of online classes but its manly just me doing them by myself. I use a chair for the bar and just do the rest in the lounge. Though there is not much room. I stretch ever night and go through my exercises.

Cupcakes

 Today me and my mum made cupcakes. They all had icing though it didn't spread very well. I kind of almost broke the oven but then my dad fixed it so it is OK now.

This week in kereru we have been learning about GMO. we have learnt about the for and against and came up with some of our own ideas.

We made a t chart and had a column about recording the crime scenes, searching for evidence and processing the scene.

This week in kereru we have been learning about crime scenes. We have learnt what crimes were like in in 1800 and how they are like now. We did some of our own research on jack the ripper and Bonnie and Clyde. We have learnt that solving crimes today are easier than they were, though they are still hard to solve.
